The properties of both Prairie Knights Casino and Grand River Casino reopened on May 29. An immense amount of planning and work went into reopening these two casinos in a Covid-19 world.
A rigorous cleaning and sanitizing protocol was established to keep employees, guests and the wider general public safe. Both casinos have gone smoke-free. Prairie Knights’ guests who wish to smoke within the casino have the option of a separate smoking room where they can play slots.
Masks are now required and the temperature of each guest is checked at the door. Social distancing guidelines are posted throughout both properties. This includes staying 6 feet away from people not in your group and frequent and thorough hand washing, among other things. Hand sanitizing stations are available throughout the facilities. Prairie Knights installed permanent plexiglass barriers to front lobby desks, cashier desks and players club desks.
Every other slot machine is available for use, although table games will remain closed in keeping with social distancing guidelines. While the buffets are closed, limited seating is available in the Prairie Knights restaurants. Takeout is available from both casinos. All concerts scheduled for the Prairie Knights Pavilion have been rescheduled to 2021.
KK was a close partner through all of these changes. Entire media plans needed to be revamped. Messaging throughout platforms transformed. Keeping up with the changing dates of entertainment announcements was especially challenging for everyone involved. The casinos evolved and we evolved with them.
For the most part, guests have been understanding and cooperative with all the changes and precautions. People are excited to get back to the casinos after months of being quarantined, and both casinos are also happy to report that they’ve had several big wins since reopening!
Prairie Knights and Grand River Casino have risen to the challenge in the face of unprecedented change and there is no doubt they will continue to offer the excellent entertainment they’ve provided for the past 26 years.
