After a year off due to last year’s flooding in Minot, the North Dakota State Fair came roaring back to life in 2012, setting new records for attendance and electrifying the state of North Dakota for nine big days. As in past years, KK BOLD oversaw all of the Fair’s marketing efforts, and the phenomenal results assisted in the North Dakota State Fair and KK BOLD agreeing to extend our partnership into the future.
The attendance for this year’s North Dakota State Fair topped over 310,000 attendees, a new attendance record for the Fair. This year’s lineup was also record-breaking. Headlining the Fair were Kid Rock, Blake Shelton, Zac Brown Band, Chris Young, Foreigner and the Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. The show passes for the country acts sold out, bringing in 16,000 attendees, and Kid Rock’s show attracted almost 15,000. Each of the acts performed incredibly well, and the stellar lineup was a major reason for why the attendance numbers were so high this year.
The 2012 State Fair also had more promotion and more media than ever before. That included magazine and newspaper ads, TV and radio spots, billboards, displays, posters, websites, banner ads and more. Under the banner of “Great. Big. Fun.”, the Fair did a lot this year to expand its promotional efforts to let people know that the Fair was back and bigger than ever. The end result was definitely worth that effort, and after the Fair’s conclusion, when a review of agencies was conducted to serve as the State Fair’s agency of record, they ultimately decided to renew their partnership with KK BOLD.
We’d like to congratulate everyone at the North Dakota State Fair for their incredible showing. We are honored to have played a part in this year’s success and excited at the chance to continue that success moving forward. This year’s festivities were certainly something to be proud of, and the numbers back that up. But we also believe that the 2013 North Dakota State Fair will be even bigger.
