Go, Team: KK BOLD Helps Mandan “Vote Yes” For Sports Complex

Sports. They create community pride, strengthen youth development opportunities, and encourage grown men to paint giant letters on their chests to spell out their favorite team names. Which is why KK BOLD was pleased to support an effort to build a Mandan Sports Complex, which was put up to a vote on June 9 and passed by a 56% majority.

KK BOLD played a consultative and advisory role in working with Citizens 4 Mandan Sports Complex, a consortium of local sports boosters and community leaders in Mandan. Our extensive campaign experience and knowledge helped focus the group’s grassroots efforts to communicate the importance of the facility to Mandan voters. KK BOLD was instrumental in developing campaign content and maintaining consistent messaging.

With several of our staff being proud Mandan residents, we were happy to contribute to the effort. We produced a website at voteyesmandan.com, an accompanying Facebook page which garnered just under 1,500 Likes, as well as a print ad, billboard, yard signs, posters, brochures, stickers and a video featuring many of the Mandan Sports Complex supporters and their children. This video was shared by hundreds on Facebook and contributed to a successful social media campaign.

On Election Day, voters approved construction of the Mandan Sports Complex by a tally of 1,564 to 1,222. The new facility will consist of two sheets of ice for hockey, a gymnastics facility and a football and track field. Construction of the complex will provide opportunities for repurposing existing facilities for use by other sports.

It was a pleasure to contribute to the coalition’s success, and we look forward to seeing the positive effects the new Mandan Sports Complex will have on the local economy and Mandan sports teams.  For us at KK BOLD, it was certainly “a win for Mandan.”
