Follow this: A how-to guide to Instagram Marketing

Instagram is a picture-perfect platform to post your best vacation photo or favorite food creations. But did you know that Instagram can be one of the most effective ways to market your business?

A study by Forrester, an American market research company, revealed that Instagram content generates 58 times more engagement per follower than Facebook or Twitter. That means, if you are looking to broaden your awareness, reach a younger demographic and increase interaction with your customers, Instagram is the perfect platform for you.

But where to start? Monique Kingsley, KK BOLD’s social media specialist, says there are five ways you can boost your social marketing using Instagram.

1. Share Your Story
You may have seen them. Those little circles at the top of your Insta page where you can discover video evidence of what your friends’ Friday night was really like. But stories can also be used to capture and catalog highlights of your business. You can save stories that highlight parts of your business you want to have at your followers’ finger tips. If you are a casino, that could mean saving stories that highlight entertainment acts or food tips. If you are a retailer, this could mean saving stories based on your spring, summer and fall product lines.

2. Get to Know Your Facebook Ads Manager
If you are looking to create paid advertising, great! Followers are more likely to interact with sponsored content and ads on Instagram than any other platform. With that in mind, if you place a sponsored post through your Facebook Ads Manager, you can have all your money go towards your ads on Instagram, which helps your post go farther and engagement on that post go up.

3. Know Your Demographic
Research shows most companies are seeing the age range of their social followers is decreasing, and if you want to reach a younger audience, Instagram is a great platform to do it. According to Pew Research Center, 71 percent of 18–24-year-olds use Instagram. That means you don’t have to go out looking for your next generation of customers.  They are already there and waiting for you on Instagram. When placing your ads through Facebook Ads Manager, you can target your audience through multiple factors including their age, geographic location and interests.

4. It’s All About the Visuals
Now that we know who we can reach and the engagement potential of Instagram, it’s important to know what you need to have to successfully reach your audience. A blurry home video or old ad isn’t going to draw in those likes or comments. Video is king when it comes to getting people’s attention on social platforms, and Instagram is no different. A well put together short video of 15–30 seconds can increase your engagement and make your ad content go further.

5. It’s Who You Know
In business, we often have a close eye on the competition. Keeping one eye on the competition can serve you well when it comes to Instagram advertising. In your Facebook Ads Manager, you can target audiences based on their interests and what they like. That means if you are a car dealer looking to connect with the motorheads in your area, you can target ads directly to those who follow car companies and auto dealers near you. Targeting an audience by their interest can help narrow your reach to people who are truly interested in what you have to offer.
